PM announces the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Youth Mobility with Croatia

Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today that Canada has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on youth mobility with Croatia.

"This Memorandum of Understanding will strengthen relations between Canada and Croatia," said the Prime Minister.  "Young people will be able to travel more easily between our two countries gaining important work experience and further strengthening ties between close friends."

The MOU, which is expected to come into effect in the coming months, will facilitate the process for qualified Canadian and Croatian youth, aged 18 to 35, to travel and work in each other’s territory for up to one year. Participating youth will have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the other country’s languages, culture and society. This will instil in them an appreciation of the benefits of a global society while increasing their adaptability to new environments.

To date, Canada has signed 26 other bilateral arrangements on youth mobility, through the International Experience Canada initiative.
