Governor General to celebrate Mexico's bicentennial

At the request of the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and her husband, Jean-Daniel Lafond, will travel to Mexico on September 13 and 14, 2010, to attend Mexico's celebration of the bicentennial of its independence and centennial of its revolution. Their Excellencies will represent the Government and people of Canada in congratulating Mexico on this occasion. During their visit, their Excellencies will also tour the Casa de la Sal - a hospice for children with HIV/AIDS - and participate in a cultural program.
