PM highlights F-35 benefits at Montreal aerospace company

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today visited aerospace company Héroux-Devtek in Dorval where he highlighted the local and national economic benefits being generated by Canada’s participation in the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program.

"Our commitment to the JSF program is translating into high-quality jobs for skilled Canadian workers in Quebec and across the country.  It is also allowing Canadian aerospace companies to showcase their world-class capabilities," said Prime Minister Harper.  "Not only is the F-35 the right aircraft for our men and women in uniform defending Canada at home and abroad, the JSF program is also positioning Canadian firms front and centre on the global stage."

The JSF program provides an unprecedented opportunity for Canadian firms such as Héroux-Devtek to take part in the global supply chains that will define the aerospace and defence sectors for the next 40 years.  Héroux-Devtek will be manufacturing parts for the F-35 as a contributor to the JSF program.

The economic benefits of this program are already being realized across Canada, from Montreal to Vancouver and Halifax. This investment ensures the long-term strength of our world-class aerospace industry.
