Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:
Andrea Lyon, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of the Environment.
Claude Carrière, currently Foreign and Defence Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister and Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.
George Da Pont, currently Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, becomes President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
Mary Komarynsky, currently Assistant Deputy Minister, Programs Group, Transport Canada, becomes Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
Nada Semaan, currently Assistant Secretary, Economic Sector, Treasury Board Secretariat, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Canadian Heritage.
These appointments will become effective July 11, 2011.
The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to recognize Carole Swan, President of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Nicole Jauvin, President of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency, Donna Miller, Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office and former Associate Deputy Minister of Justice, and Lyse Ricard, Deputy Commissioner of the Canada Revenue Agency who will be retiring from the Public Service. He thanked them for their contributions to the Public Service and dedication to serving Canadians.
