PM announces changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:

Colleen Swords, currently Associate Deputy Minister, Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, assumes additional responsibilities as Interim President of the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency, effective immediately.

Bill Jones, currently Assistant Deputy Minister, Pensions and Benefits, Treasury Board Secretariat, becomes Deputy Commissioner of Revenue, effective October 3, 2011.

Peter Sylvester, currently Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office, becomes Associate Deputy Minister, Citizenship and Immigration, effective October 3, 2011.

The Prime Minister is also pleased to announce that Grant Westcott joined Shared Services Canada as the Chief Operating Officer on September 12, 2011.

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to recognize the work of Monique Collette, currently Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office and former President of Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency who will be retiring from the Public Service on September 29, 2011, after a distinguished 37 year career. He thanked her for her outstanding contribution to the Public Service and dedication to serving Canadians.
