While in London, Prime Minister Harper will attend a number of events celebrating the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty’s accession to the throne, including the Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral and a BBC concert at Buckingham Palace. The Prime Minister will also be granted an audience with Her Majesty on June 6th.
“For more than 60 years now, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has served Canada and the Commonwealth with great distinction and dedication,” said the Prime Minister. “It will be a great honour to be in London, on behalf of the Government and the people of Canada, participating in Diamond Jubilee events honouring Her Majesty’s exceptional record of service as our Head of State and celebrating the special relationship between Canada and the United Kingdom.”
