PM announces changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service

Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:

Bob Hamilton, currently Senior Associate Secretary of the Treasury Board, becomes Deputy Minister of the Environment, effective August 1, 2012.

Mary Chaput, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs, becomes Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs, effective July 16, 2012.

Anne Marie Smart, currently Special Advisor, Communications and Consultations, Privy Council Office, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs, effective July 16, 2012.

Marie Lemay, currently Chief Executive Officer of the National Capital Commission, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, effective August 27, 2012.

Alan Latourelle is reappointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Parks Canada Agency, effective August 7, 2012, for a term of three years.

David Moloney, Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office, will assume responsibility for the Regulatory Cooperation Council in addition to his current responsibilities for Border Action Plan Implementation, effective August 1, 2012.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to thank Suzanne Tining, currently Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs, on the occasion of her upcoming retirement, for a long and distinguished career in the Public Service.

The Prime Minister wishes to thank William V. Baker, former Deputy Minister of Public Safety, who has retired from the Public Service, for his outstanding contribution to the Public Service over the course of his 33 year career.

The Prime Minister also wishes to thank Paul Boothe, Deputy Minister of the Environment, who will retire from the Public Service effective July 31, 2012, for his significant achievements and service to Canadians during his Public Service career.
