PM announces nominee for Supreme Court of Canada appointment

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced Mr. Justice Richard Wagner as the Government’s nominee for the Supreme Court of Canada.

“Justice Wagner’s candidacy comes following a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation process of his merit and commitment to legal excellence,” said Prime Minister Harper. “Held in high esteem by his judicial colleagues and members of his bar association, he is an exceptional candidate with the skills and qualifications needed to serve Canadians well.”

Justice Wagner has agreed to appear at an ad hoc committee of Parliamentarians on October 4, 2012, to answer questions of Members of Parliament.
