Prime Minister Harper highlighted the importance that Canada places on the relationship between the two countries and the importance of further elevating it.
Prime Minister Harper also stressed the important contribution of the Vietnamese-Canadian community in Canada.
The two leaders also discussed the upcoming G-20 Summit in June and the status of the world economy.
Prime Minister Harper also raised the issue of human rights in Vietnam and the hope for further progress.
Prime Minister Harper also welcomed the fact that Vietnam will open a consulate in Vancouver in the near future.
Prime Minister Harper also raised the importance of nuclear cooperation in the context of the ongoing Summit in Washington.
Finally, Prime Minister Harper expressed Canada's satisfaction with the progress between the two countries' commercial and investment relationship, such as the ongoing negotiations of a foreign investment protection and promotion agreement.
