14 June 2010
Ottawa, Ontario
Prime Minister Stephen Harper discussed the upcoming G-20 Summit during a phone call this morning with Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, President of Indonesia.

Prime Minister Harper outlined Canada’s priorities for the summits, including the need for advanced economies to present credible fiscal consolidation plans and for emerging economies to stimulate demand.

President Yudhoyono thanked the Prime Minister for his call and fully agreed with the need for the G-20 to focus on implementing existing promises, including reform of the financial sector.

Both leaders also stressed the importance of free and open trade to the global recovery.

Today's call is part of a series of calls that Prime Minister Harper is making to G-8 and G-20 Leaders ahead of the Muskoka G-8 and Toronto G-20 Summits.
