PM speaks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh

14 June 2010
Ottawa, Ontario
This morning, Prime Minister Stephen Harper spoke by phone with Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India, about preparations and priorities for the upcoming Toronto G-20 Summit.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of implementing previously agreed-to G-20 commitments to restore the health of global economy, while also taking steps to lay the foundation for strong, sustainable and balanced growth in the future.

The leaders also noted the importance of implementing clear and realistic plans for fiscal consolidation, and exchanged views on other areas where G-20 actions have been, and remain, vital, including financial sector reform.

Prime Minister Singh ended the call by noting that he was looking forward to spending time in the "great city of Toronto."

Today's call is the latest in a series of calls that Prime Minister Harper is making to G-8 and G-20 Leaders ahead of the Muskoka G-8 and Toronto G-20 summits.
