PM speaks with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia

18 June 2010
Ottawa, Ontario
Prime Minister Stephen Harper spoke today with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia to discuss the upcoming Toronto G-20 Summit.

Prime Minister Harper outlined the areas of priority discussion at the Summit: the need for G-20 countries to follow through with stimulus; the need for the advanced economies to take credible action on fiscal consolidation; the need to make real progress on the reform of the financial sector; and the need for the emerging economies to take steps to stimulate demand in their own markets.

King Abdullah thanked the Prime Minister for his call, agreed with Canada's priorities, and placed particular emphasis on the need to reform the financial sector.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper ended the call by telling King Abdullah that he looked forward to welcoming him to Toronto next week.
