Prime Minister Harper spoke by phone today to Bruce Golding, Prime Minister of Jamaica, in advance of this week’s special G-8 Summit extended outreach discussion in which the Jamaican Prime Minister will be participating.
The two leaders agreed on the importance of international cooperation in confronting security challenges while promoting democratic governance, the rule of law and respect for human rights.
Prime Minister Harper also provided Prime Minister Golding with an overview of the objectives for the upcoming G-20 Summit in Toronto.
Prime Minister Harper took the opportunity to express Canada’s strong support for Prime Minister Golding’s efforts to crack down on drug trafficking and crime in Jamaica.
