PM speaks with Australian PM Gillard

This evening, Prime Minister Harper spoke by telephone with the Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard. PM Harper congratulated PM Gillard on forming a new government, and looked forward to meeting her in person at the earliest opportunity. The two leaders discussed their common commitment to the G-20 and prospects for the Seoul G-20 Summit in November 2010. They also exchanged views on the global economy. The two Prime Ministers also discussed the problem of human smuggling and trafficking affecting both countries and agreed to further strengthen the close cooperation that exists in this regard.
