Telephone call between PM and President Piņera of Chile

Prime Minister Harper called President Piñera to congratulate him and the Chilean people for the remarkable rescue of the 33 trapped miners of the San José mine. The Prime Minister indicated that all Canadians were heartened by the news that all miners were alive and well and had shared the excitement of the Chilean people as the recue effort was unfolding. He congratulated the President for his leadership and also expressed his pride that Canadian companies had contributed to the rescue efforts. President Piñera was extremely thankful and saluted the commitment and contribution of Canadian companies in bringing about the successful rescue.
