Prime Minister Harper spoke this afternoon to Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani. They discussed the rapidly-evolving situation in Libya, where Canada is a key member of the UN-mandated, NATO-led mission to protect civilians. Qatar has worked closely with NATO and the Libyan National Transitional Council to this end. The two leaders expressed their satisfaction that the Gaddafi regime is collapsing and discussed the importance of ensuring law and order, and a smooth, just and effective transition in Libya.
