Prime Minster Stephen Harper met with Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete today on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Prime Minister Harper reiterated his condolences for the ferry disaster last week. The two leaders discussed ways they could further advance the work they have led as co-Chairs of the UN Commission on Information and Accountability for Women and Children's Health. Leaders also discussed deepening Canada-Tanzania economic relations and development cooperation, as well as regional issues including the famine in East Africa.
