Prime Minister Harper meets with President Peres of the State of Israel

Prime Minister Harper today met with Shimon Peres, President of the State of Israel, as part of the President's state visit to Canada. The two leaders spoke at some length about the close relationship between Canada and Israel and the need for the relationship to progress even further, especially in the areas of science, innovation and economic relations. They discussed the uncertain security environment and the importance of diplomacy as the primary instrument for peace and security. Following their meeting, Prime Minister Harper hosted a lunch in honour of President Peres’ visit.
