Late this afternoon, on the margins of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit in Chicago, Prime Minister Harper met with the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. They discussed a range of issues of mutual interest including desired outcomes for the NATO Summit.
Beyond international security, the Leaders used the meeting to compare notes on their respective domestic economic situations as well as the broader global economy and the Eurozone situation.
In terms of advancing economic relations, the meeting provided an important occasion for the Prime Ministers to affirm their commitment to concluding an ambitious and mutually beneficial Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement in 2012.
