Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued a statement following the announcement by Buckingham Palace that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their first child:
"We recall with great fondness the 2011 Royal Tour of Canada by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
"The tremendous outpouring of affection with which Canadians greeted the Royal Couple is bolstered by today's happy news. On behalf of all Canadians, Laureen and I convey our warmest congratulations to both The Duke and The Duchess."
