Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada on the recent tornado in Goderich

Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued the following statement on the tornado that swept through Goderich, Ontario on August 21, 2011:"On Sunday afternoon, a powerful tornado devastated the town of Goderich, Ontario, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
"This devastating tornado killed one person, injured dozens, and caused severe damage to the town.
"I want to assure the residents of Goderich that our Government is monitoring the situation closely.
"The thoughts and prayers of all Canadians are with the family of the deceased, as well as with the residents of Goderich as they begin to rebuild their beloved community."
