Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada on Global Entrepreneurship Week

14 November 2011
Ottawa, Ontario
Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on Global Entrepreneurship Week, which runs from November 14-20, 2011:

“At the beginning of Global Entrepreneurship Week, I would like to congratulate the highly talented, creative and driven Canadian entrepreneurs who, through their domestic and international endeavours, are creating jobs and growth across the country.

“These individuals often work extremely long hours and take significant risks to get their dreams to the marketplace; dreams that are now benefitting all Canadians.

“Our Government recognizes their immense contributions and has taken several measures to enable their efforts. We have taken actions to reduce taxes and red tape, improve access to business financing, and have negotiated new international trade, air and investment agreements to open up global markets. Finally, we have announced new support for both young entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises in the Next Phase of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.

“I invite all Canadians to join me in honouring our entrepreneurs and in learning more about their contributions through Global Entrepreneurship Week events being held across the country.”
