Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada congratulating Team Canada on bronze medal at IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship
 
Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement congratulating Team Canada on their bronze medal at the 2012 IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) World Junior Hockey Championship in Calgary, Alberta:

“On behalf of all Canadians, I congratulate our junior men’s hockey team on its performance and bronze medal at this year’s World Junior Hockey Championship.

“Once again, Team Canada players have shown that they have what it takes to play the best hockey teams in the world. Their spirit, strength and perseverance are an inspiration to us all, and I look forward to following their accomplishments in the years to come.

“I also tip my hat to other medal-winning teams who participated in this tournament and provided hockey fans around the world with great moments in sport.

“Finally, I offer my sincere thanks to all the organizers, volunteers, coaches and sponsors, as well as to the residents of Calgary and Edmonton for helping to host this successful World Junior Hockey Championship.

“I look forward to next year’s IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, which will be held in Ufa, Russia and wish our team the best of luck.”
