Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada on Vietnamese New Year

20 January 2012
Ottawa, Ontario
Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on the occasion of Tet, the Vietnamese New Year:

“On behalf of Laureen and I, I extend best wishes to all those celebrating the Vietnamese New Year in Canada and around the world.

“As you gather with family and friends to mark the beginning of the Year of the Dragon, I encourage you to reflect on your accomplishments in the past year and on all that you wish to achieve in the New Year in our great country of opportunity.

“I encourage Canadians to participate in Tet festivities across the country to learn more about the richness of Vietnamese culture and to celebrate the contributions that Vietnamese-Canadians continue to make in all areas of endeavour.

“Chúc mừng năm mới.”
