PM announces improvements to Highway 101 that will create jobs

"This is a meaningful, shovel-ready project that will create jobs for local workers," said Prime Minister Stephen Harper who was joined by Nova Scotia Premier Rodney MacDonald in announcing the new investment. "It will also ensure that families and businesses throughout the Annapolis Valley can count on a safer and more reliable drive in the future."
Highway 101 is a major commercial thoroughfare that runs from the Halifax Regional Municipality through the Annapolis Valley all the way to Yarmouth. Under the $17.5 million project announced today, new passing lanes will be constructed on the stretch of highway between Coldbrook and Kingston. Of this amount, up to $6.75 million will be funded by the Government of Canada through the Major Infrastructure Component of the Building Canada Fund.
Upgrading Highway 101 is one of many job-creating investments contained within the Government of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
