The governments of Canada and Quebec are co-operating on a joint investment to improve water systems that will create jobs, strengthen the economy, and improve the quality of life of Quebecers, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said today.The Prime Minister announced a specific project in Lévis to improve and expand the Desjardins drinking water treatment facility.
"This is an example of how our Economic Action Plan is working for the people of Quebec," said the Prime Minister. "This investment will protect jobs today, create jobs for tomorrow, and ensure that the people of Lévis have superior drinking water for years to come."
The Prime Minister also announced that Canada and Quebec will make a joint investment under the Programme de renouvellement des conduites d'eau potable et d'eaux usées. These investments will improve the quality of water across the province.
The governments of Canada and Quebec also announced today the signing of an agreement that will accelerate the construction of roads, bridges, buildings and other public infrastructure. Designated funding will be allocated to both small municipalities of less than 100,000 residents and to Quebec’s nine big cities.
These three investments are just some of the many job-creating investments contained in Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
