Programme de renouvellement des conduites d'eau potable et d'eaux usées (PRECO)

26 March 2009
Ottawa, Ontario
Canada’s Economic Action Plan is designed to provide targeted, timely and effective investments to help people hardest hit by the recession, strengthen Canada’s economic fundamentals, and create jobs.

As part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, the Harper Government is investing in the new $4 billion Infrastructure Stimulus Fund.

As part of this fund, the Government of Canada has set aside up to $350 million for projects identified under the Programme de renouvellement des conduites d’eau potable et d’eaux usées (PRECO).  Federal funding is conditional upon signed agreements with the Government of Quebec and will specifically target projects that could start during the next two construction seasons and contribute to job creation.

PRECO will also receive $350 million from the Government of Quebec.  This program will allow Quebec’s municipalities to repair or to replace drinking water and waste water pipes.  The projects will be selected through a competitive process under which municipalities will have to submit their proposals for evaluation purposes.

The Government of Canada supports a stronger economy, promotes job creation and contributes to the prosperity of communities across Quebec and Canada.  This is why, thanks to federal funding, major infrastructure projects have been carried out in Quebec.
