The
Communities Component of the Building Canada Plan will finance infrastructure projects in Quebec’s communities with populations of fewer than 100,000. This Component will help small communities to meet their urgent infrastructure needs.
The
Large Urban Centres Component of the Building Canada Plan will finance infrastructure projects in Quebec’s communities of 100,000 inhabitants or more. This Component will significantly help Quebec’s nine big cities (Montreal, Quebec City, Laval, Gatineau, Longueuil, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Lévis, Trois-Rivières) to meet their urgent infrastructure needs.
The Government of Canada is setting aside $210 million for Quebec’s smaller communities and $200 million for Quebec’s larger centres through these funds as part of the $1.953 billion set, in total, for Quebec through the Building Canada Fund.
This funding is in addition to the Gas Tax Fund and the full reimbursement of the GST that municipalities will continue to receive.
The application process for new projects will begin in the weeks ahead. Please visit the website
www.buildingcanada.gc.ca for more information on the submission of applications for funding.
Those funds complement Canada’s Economic Action Plan, which sets aside close to $12 billion over two years in new funding to stimulate the Canadian economy and create jobs.
