Thornhill, Ontario
The Government of Canada will continue to stand united with Canada’s Jewish community in confronting anti-Semitism and intolerance both at home and abroad, Prime Minister Stephen Harper told members of Thornhill’s Jewish community today.

"Our Government will continue to lead on the world stage when it comes to the fight against anti-Semitism," said the Prime Minister. "We all have a moral responsibility to expose, confront, and fight this malignant hatred wherever it is found."

The Prime Minister was speaking at the dedication of the Ernest Manson Lubavitch Centre in Thornhill.  The newly completed Chabad Lubavitch Centre will serve as a spiritual, educational and social hub for the local Jewish community.

"Thanks to the vision and leadership of the late Rabbi Schneerson, thousands of Chabad Lubavich centres like this have opened their doors around the world," said the Prime Minister. "Through education and outreach programs, these centres are strengthening the bonds of faith within the international Jewish community.  I congratulate the Manson family, Rabbi Grossbaum and everyone else who contributed to make this day a reality."
