“Our country is extremely proud of the Canadian Women’s Soccer Team. They are a great team, they had a great run and, as true Olympians, they overcame adversity to earn a position on the podium,” said Prime Minister Harper. “The efforts by captain Christine Sinclair and the rest of the team can only be described as heroic.”
The Canadian Women’s Soccer Team trains out of Vancouver, British Columbia. This is their first Olympic medal and Canada’s first team medal in the Summer Olympics since the men’s basketball team won silver in 1936.
