Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on Small Business Week, which runs from October 16-22:
“Each year, Small Business Week acknowledges and celebrates the hard work and dedication of small business owners. Small businesses are a powerful driver of our economy and employ millions of Canadians. Their contributions are more important than ever given the fragile state of the global economy.
“Our Government is doing its share to support the efforts of small businesses to create jobs and growth in Canada. We are reducing red tape, keeping taxes low and have declared 2011 the Year of the Entrepreneur – highlighting the role entrepreneurs are playing in the success of our country.
“On behalf of Canadians, I thank small business owners and entrepreneurs for their continued efforts to keep the Canadian economy strong.”
