PM announces appointment of Janice Charette as Clerk of the Privy Council

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced the appointment of Janice Charette as the new Clerk of the Privy Council, effective October 6, 2014.

Ms. Charette joined the Public Service in 1984 and is presently the Deputy Clerk of the Privy Council and Associate Secretary to the Cabinet. Ms. Charette was previously the Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development and before that Deputy Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. Ms. Charette has served with distinction in a broad range of roles within the Public Service, including Associate Deputy Minister of Health, Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Plans and Consultation) in the Privy Council Office, and Senior Assistant Deputy Minister at the Department of Justice. 

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to thank Wayne Wouters for his contributions to the Government of Canada, and for his knowledge, dedication and excellent service to Canada and Canadians.
