Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met today with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in Ottawa.
Prime Minister Trudeau reconfirmed Canada’s intention to further cement its relationship with the United Nations.
He and the Secretary-General discussed a number of priority issues including climate change, refugee resettlement, sustainable development, preventing violent extremism, gender equality, and youth. They also discussed the potential for expanding collaboration between Canada and the United Nations, including in peacekeeping operations.
The Secretary-General welcomed Canada's vigorous engagement with the United Nations and looked forward to ongoing close collaboration.
