The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, met today with President Hery Rajaonarimampianina of Madagascar on the margins of the XVI Francophonie Summit.
Prime Minister Trudeau congratulated President Rajaonarimampianina for organizing a major summit, and for his efforts in restoring the democratic legitimacy and rule of law in the country. He also highlighted that the President had studied at the Université du Québec à Trois Rivières. The President thanked Prime Minister Trudeau for his continued focus on women and girls.
Prime Minister Trudeau and President Rajaonarimampianina welcomed the signing earlier this week of a Double Taxation Agreement between Canada and Madagascar. Both leaders expressed their desire to strengthen people-to-people and institutional ties between the two countries.
