Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met today with Antonio Tajani, President of the European Parliament.

President Tajani welcomed Prime Minister Trudeau at the European Parliament in Strasbourg where the two leaders discussed their strong commitment to strengthen the Canada-European Union relationship. The two leaders also committed to provisionally implementing the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) in the coming months after the European Parliament’s vote to approve the agreements on February 15.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Trudeau made a historic address to the European Parliament upon the invitation of President Tajani, becoming the first Canadian Prime Minister to address the European Parliament.
