Prime minister Trudeau meets with President Sergio Mattarella of Italy

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met President Sergio Mattarella of Italy in Rome.

The two leaders reaffirmed the rich and diverse bilateral relationship between Canada and Italy which is built and maintained through strong people-to-people ties and common values. They discussed migration, the European Union (EU) and reaffirmed their commitment to the timely ratification of the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.

The leaders welcomed the opportunity for still-closer bilateral cooperation as a result of Italy's and Canada’s successive G7 Presidency in 2017 and 2018.
