The Honourable Bernadette Jordan is the Member of Parliament for South Shore–St. Margarets. She was the Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans and was a member of the House of Commons Standing Committee on the Status of Women and the House of Commons Liaison Committee.

Prior to being elected, Minister Jordan was a Development Officer for the Health Services Foundation in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, where she spent eight years as part of a team raising millions of dollars for health care in the region. Minister Jordan has been involved in her community for years, holding positions such as President of the Atlantic Community Newspaper Association, and member of the board of directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is a proud alumnus of St. Francis Xavier University, where she completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.

Minister Jordan is a strong voice in coastal communities for the removal of abandoned and neglected vessels across South Shore-St. Margaret’s, and across the country. Her proudest accomplishment yet in this file was the removal of the MV Farley Mowat from the Shelburne Marine Terminal in June 2017. Minister Jordan’s consistent advocacy on this file has contributed to the development of the Oceans Protection Plan, which includes comprehensive measures to address abandoned, derelict, and wrecked vessels.

Minister Jordan served as a parliamentary secretary from 2018 until 2019, when she was appointed Minister of Rural Economic Development.
