The Honourable Tracey K. DeWare was appointed to the Court of Queen’s Bench of New Brunswick, Family Division, in 2012 and was assigned to the Judicial District of Campbellton. Prior to her appointment, she was a partner at Stewart McKelvey where her practice focused on insurance, personal injury, and medical malpractice.
Justice DeWare is fluently bilingual. She was transferred to the Judicial District of Woodstock in July 2014 to provide bilingual judicial services to the jurisdictions of Woodstock and Fredericton. During her tenure, Justice DeWare was responsible for all matters, including criminal, civil, and family cases. In July 2016, Justice DeWare was transferred to the jurisdiction of Moncton.
Justice DeWare is a council member of the Canadian Superior Court Judges Association where she sits on both the conduct and insurance committees. She chairs the education and strategic planning committees of the Court of Queen’s Bench of New Brunswick. Justice DeWare is also the Court’s representative on the National Judicial Institute’s committee for the training and development of new judges.
Justice DeWare has served as a board member of the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation, the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute, the United Way, and Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc.
Justice DeWare graduated from the University of New Brunswick Law School in 1994. She and her husband, Jacques Pinet, are the parents of three adult sons and live on the coast in Grande-Digue, New Brunswick.
