The Honourable Jean-François Michaud was appointed a judge of the Superior Court of Quebec for the district of Montréal on February 7, 2013, and has been the coordinating judge for the district of Terrebonne, the second largest judicial district in Quebec, since 2019. Prior to his appointment, Associate Chief Justice Michaud was a partner with Norton Rose from 2000 to 2013. From 1989 to 2000, he practised with Lavery de Billy. His main areas of practice were commercial law, construction law, insurance law, and professional liability.

Associate Chief Justice Michaud was a member of the Canadian Bar Association and held various positions within the Bar of Montréal. He taught evidence and civil liability for several years at the Quebec’s bar admission course. He was recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada and Lexpert for his expertise in product liability, commercial law, and insurance law.

Associate Chief Justice Michaud received a Bachelor of Laws from the Université de Montréal in 1988 and was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1989.
