Christine Ivory is an accomplished leader and public servant who has devoted her career of almost 25 years to supporting parliamentary democracy and preserving Canada’s documentary heritage. She is experienced in management, legislative research, interparliamentary affairs, and legislative libraries.
In 2023, Ms. Ivory was appointed Assistant Deputy Minister, Collections Sector, at Library and Archives Canada (LAC), where she led operational strategies, plans, and processes related to Canada’s published heritage and historical records. During her tenure, she made significant contributions to advancing LAC’s mandate and ensuring that Canada’s diverse collections are accessible to all Canadians.
Prior to her role at LAC, Ms. Ivory was an integral member of the Library of Parliament’s management team for over 15 years, including as Director General of Information and Document Resource Services and as Senior Director of Economics, Resources and International Affairs. Over the years, she provided extensive non-partisan advice and research support to parliamentarians. For nearly a decade, Ms. Ivory worked internationally with legislatures from across the globe.
Fluently bilingual, Ms. Ivory was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Manitoba in 1998 and a Master of Arts from Queen’s University in 1999.
