PM Trudeau meets with King Abdullah II

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan following the “Christchurch Call to Action to Eliminate Terrorist and Violent Extremist Content Online” meeting in Paris.

The two leaders expressed their shared commitment to confront all forms of hatred, including Islamophobia, to create a world in which diversity is protected and all people can feel safe and secure. The Prime Minister and the King also reaffirmed the need to strengthen efforts to counter terrorism and violent extremism.  Prime Minister Trudeau also expressed Canada’s ongoing interest in working closely with Jordan on the Aqaba Process, led by King Abdullah, which enhances coordination and cooperation among international stakeholders in countering terrorist and extremist ideologies.

Prime Minister Trudeau and King Abdullah also discussed issues of regional peace and security and the importance of promoting peace and security in the Middle East.
