PM Trudeau and Minister McKenna meet with Mayor Don Iveson

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Chrystia Freeland, and Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Catherine McKenna met with Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson to discuss their shared priorities. The Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to work collaboratively with Mayor Iveson to support Edmonton’s priorities for economic and social development.

The leaders discussed shared investments being made in priority public transit projects through the Investing in Canada Plan, which will help improve commutes, cut air pollution, and build prosperous communities, as well as the significant investments being made in housing to ensure residents of Edmonton have access to a range of affordable housing.

The Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister, and the Mayor also discussed the significant progress being made in construction of the Trans Mountain Expansion project, and the importance of the pipeline’s expansion to Alberta’s economy.

The Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister, and the Mayor agreed to continue collaborating on Edmonton’s priorities.
