Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau received a call from Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom. The prime ministers discussed the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

The two leaders discussed shared priorities for the final days of negotiations taking place at the COP26 summit, and agreed to work together to push for stronger leadership on climate change, particularly by large emitters. Prime Minister Johnson welcomed Prime Minister Trudeau’s ongoing efforts to broker consensus around creating a global shared minimum standard for pricing pollution.

Recognizing the importance of maintaining momentum in the closing hours of the summit, Prime Minister Trudeau offered Canada’s support in continuing to engage other countries in raising their climate commitments. He reiterated his commitment to securing an ambitious agreement that will translate into true global climate action.
