Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, while participating in the Nordic Prime Ministers’ meeting in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland.

Prime Minister Trudeau and Prime Minister Frederiksen discussed Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and its impacts, reiterating their ongoing support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and their commitment to stand with Ukraine for as long as necessary.

Emphasizing longstanding ties and the strength of the bilateral relationship, both leaders highlighted the importance of the landmark 2022 boundary agreement between Canada and Denmark over Tartupaluk (Hans Island) and the maritime boundary in the Lincoln Sea. Additionally, the leaders agreed to work closely with Inuit and Indigenous Peoples on cooperation between Greenland and Canada.

Prime Minister Trudeau and Prime Minister Frederiksen looked forward to meeting again at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, next month.
