Prime Minister Trudeau’s message on Public Service Pride Week
Hello everyone.
And Happy Pride!
I know we all wish we were together celebrating, but I’m so glad we’re finding new ways to celebrate.
Because it’s so important that we continue to show our support for the LGBTQ2 communities.
Here in Canada we have come a long way together.
But there is still so much more work to do to create a more accepting and inclusive Canada for everyone.
Far too many people still face prejudice or discrimination simply because of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
And by taking part in this year’s Public Service Pride Week, you’re taking a clear stand against hate and discrimination.
You’re also signaling to Canadians that their public service promotes a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment for everyone.
And this year, more than ever, we need to make sure everyone feels supported and included.
Because with everything going on in the world, and people feeling more isolated as a result of physical distancing measures, we need to look out for one another.
Together, let’s continue to fight for greater rights, protections, and inclusion for all LGBTQ2 people – so everyone can freely be themselves.
Enjoy the celebrations, and stay safe, healthy, and connected during these times.
Happy Pride everyone!
