Prime Minister's message on National Volunteer Week
Hello everyone.
It’s National Volunteer Week, which is a time to recognize Canadians who have been dedicating their time and skills to help make our communities – and our country – a better place to live.
I know this has been a challenging year for everyone – filled with far too many tragedies.
We’re all missing our extended family and loved ones.
And for some, this pandemic has meant the loss of a job or a business.
But through the heartache and struggles of this past year, Canadians have stepped up.
From writing letters to isolated seniors, to training as volunteer crisis responders for Kids Help Phone, to donating time and efforts at local food banks, or simply dropping off groceries for neighbours, family members, and friends, we’ve been there for one another.
Because that’s just who we are.
And the millions of volunteers across our country remind us every single day that we truly are stronger together.
So thank you for sharing your time, your passion, and your generosity.
You’re making a difference in the lives of so many.
And if we keep stepping up, we will beat this virus and we will build a better Canada.
Stay safe and healthy, everyone.
