Prime Minister Trudeau delivers closing remarks at the Global Fund Replenishment Conference
Thank you, Minister Bibeau. My friends, it’s been an amazing past few days here in Montreal. I want to thank all of you for making it such a priority to be here. I want to thank all the generous donors. I want to thank the governments who showed up with their heads of state or with their representatives. I want to thank the private partners who were so incredibly generous in their pledges. I want to thank community leaders who step up time and time again all around the world. I want to thank Mark and all the extraordinary people at the Global Fund. And mostly, I want to thank the activists, the global citizens, the young people represented by these extraordinary young people here behind me…

This matters because everyone says it matters.

My friends, what we managed to do today with the Global Fund is quite simply extraordinary. Over the past two years, we have succeeded in together imagining a better future. A future without AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. A future where all children can grow up and raise their own families safe from the threat of a fatal epidemic. My friends, we have demonstrated that when we work together, we can achieve great things. When governments, private partners and citizens come together, we can make history. We can change the world.
The citizens of our global community can look proudly at what has been accomplished today. Thanks to an inspirational demonstration of unshakeable will and collaboration. We will rid the world of AIDS, TB and Malaria.

With the help of civil society and of our empowered youth partners around the world, we will end it for good.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great honour to announce that for the Fifth Replenishment Conference for the Global Fund to end AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, we have reached our goal. Together we have raised almost $13 billion, and in doing so we have saved eight million lives.
Thank you everyone! Thank you for your work! Let’s keep going!
