Today, the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, met with the Mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel.
The Prime Minister and the Mayor discussed a range of Canada-Chicago issues, including efforts on climate change, and the significance of the North American Free Trade Agreement to both economies. They also discussed the importance of promoting growth for everyone, including providing education opportunities for the middle class and those working hard to join it.
Canada-Illinois bilateral trade was valued at US$41.2 billion (2016). Over 334,300 jobs in Illinois are dependent on trade and investment with Canada.
