Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the margins of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Canada’s unwavering commitment to stand with Ukraine as it continues to defend itself against Russia’s war of aggression, and to provide military, humanitarian, financial, and other assistance to Ukraine for as long as it takes. 

The two leaders also discussed the situation on the ground. Prime Minister Trudeau reiterated his support for President Zelenskyy’s ongoing diplomatic efforts toward peace. 

Prime Minister Trudeau reiterated Canada’s support for Ukraine as it continues on its path toward Euro-Atlantic integration and the two leaders discussed Ukraine’s rightful place in NATO. 

The leaders agreed to remain in close and regular contact.
