Prime Minister Trudeau's message on National Volunteer Week
Hello everyone.
Happy National Volunteer Week!
This week, we celebrate the millions of volunteers who give their time, passion, and generosity to help their fellow Canadians.
The theme this year is “It’s time to applaud this country’s volunteers.”
And that couldn’t be more fitting as our country faces one of its greatest challenges to date with COVID-19.
Whether you spend time helping at a food bank, volunteer with your local fire department, or if you’ve signed up for the National COVID-19 Volunteer Recruitment Campaign, you’re playing a vital role in helping us get through this.
However you’re choosing to give back, thank you for your time and dedication to making our country a better place.
And for those of you who are still looking to get involved, I encourage you to get in touch with your local organisations like food banks and shelters to see what you can do to help.
Or you can join thousands of other Canadians who are helping our healthcare professionals by doing community contact tracing, data collection and assisting in the event of a health system surge through the National COVID-19 Volunteer Recruitment Campaign.
Visit Canada.ca/coronavirus to find out how you can make a difference in our fight against COVID-19.
No matter who you are, no matter what your age, you can play a role in shaping the world around you.
Again, thanks to everyone who is answering the call to help others in big and small ways.
You are what makes us all proud to be Canadian.
